Bread + Butter = Brioche Baking Class – February 23rd, 2019

  Brioche, laden with butter and eggs and even more butter, is the king of breads. Rich but also inexplicably light, we'll learn how to make tasty hamburger buns from Poor Man's Brioche, plump loaves of sumptuous Rich Man's Brioche, and our own beloved Pumpkin Brioche. We'll even elevate our brioche into an elegant dessert with syrup and cream to make Baba au Rhum. Age 10+.

Sponge cakes can be daunting, but they're a delightful and versatile skill to have in your baking repertoire. We'll be making a classic Victoria sponge, Polish wuzetka (chocolate sponge layered with cream and jam), a mousse-filled charlotte royale, and even a whimsically decorated joconde roll cake. Who doesn't love pretzels? We'll try our hands at a variety of different pretzel types, including traditional Bavarian, Parmesan Peppercorn, and sweet Scandinavian Kringla. We'll get lots of practice shaping and twisting pretzels, and learn various methods to achieve that unique pretzel crust.
